KUISHIN-BO- GREAT WORLD CITY

I had nothing to do after school, so I decided to go kuishin-bo to eat the buffet there. Cost me a total of $33 for the buffet. I heard comments saying that the restaurant has a nice variety of desserts and so, of course, I went there to check it out. It does have a wide variety and I was overjoyed.

I had their appetizers first of course. The mixed salad with the ume sauce is very light and refreshing! I like it. It has a bit of the sour taste but is not too overly sour. Then the potato salad is a bit rough and bland for me. However the kani mayo salad is nice even though the mayo is too strong. The one with the cucumber in the glass is one of the appetizers. It has cucumbers, marinated squid and seaweed in it. I like it too. Good for appetizers. The tofu with some black sesame sauce and cod roe is nice too but taste-wise, is bland compared to the marinated squid.

Next, I have the sashimi and the sushi. The salmon and the tuna sashimi is nice. Cut to the right thickness and fresh. But the hamachi is too thin and lack of freshness as compared to the other two, unfortunately. The sushi is mediocre. Nothing too special. The egg is not as sweet as I like to be, the unagi is too thin. But I like the salmon skin roll though. Is crunchy:D

To the fried sections, I had their ebi tempura, seafood kakiage, butterfly prawns, soft shell crab and the fried lotus in a stick. I love the fried lotus in a stick the most. The soft shell crab has too much egg in it. I chose the wrong part of the crab. And is too soft and soggy. The ebi tempura has not much crunch in it, so I do not really like it. Seafood kakiage has been left in the open for too long that it is soft too. The butterfly prawn just came out from the kitchen when I took it, so I was lucky to get the fresh one. I like the sauce and the mayo with the crunch. Nice.

For the hot section, I had the fried rice with ebi sakura, the vegetable cooked with ebi, the dango and the prawn egg. I don't like all of them. The fried rice was too dry, the vegetable was too wet, dango was just mediocre and the egg was tasteless.

This is my first time trying the oden. I like it though. Is very warm to the stomach. Nothing to say much about this except this is like the Japanese version of Yong tau foo. Healthy.

Then I had the Egg Tepanyaki. I thought it will be like omelet where there will be stuffing in it. But to my disappointment, is just egg. Nothing special about this. Just egg and is too eggs. Wonder how many eggs did they use in this. The mayo does not help too. Sweet egg plus sweet mayo= overly sweet dish.

Desserts time! As mentioned, they had a wide spread of desserts and so I kind of overindulged myself. First I have the strawberry tarts, the assorted tart, the green matcha cake, the green tea mochi and the assorted cake ball.I love their tarts. Crumbly and sweet. The strawberry is fresh too. But not much of the custard that I like. The assorted tarts, I like too. I had a few servings of the tarts. The green matcha cake was tasteless though. And the green tea mochi with red bean filling does not suit my appetite even though I like both combination. The taste is not strong enough and the texture of the mochi is not chewy at all. The assorted cake ball is mediocre and I can live without eating it.

Second serving of the desserts. Had the fondue (marshmallow and strawberry) I did not know fondue will freeze this fast and by the time I wanted to eat it, the sauce has frozen and stick to the plate. Got it out with much effort but is nice. Tiramisu is not my favorite cake so I do not like it. But the creme brulee is nice. It just melts in your mouth and is not too overly sweet and eggy. The cake there has a hint of cheese in it so I do not really like it though is refreshing. The 2nd serving of the tart! HA HA.

I love green tea. So, I also had the green tea ice cream. Topped with lemon sauce, peanut crumbs and chocolate sprinkles. Love it! Had two servings of this. HA HA

Overall, Kuishin-bo has become one of my favorite Japanese buffet. It has a wide variety of quality desserts and food. I tried the strawberry pudding too and is nice too! It is quite affordable for me too. Love it and I will definitely come again soon.

In the end, I was so full that I quickly went to the toilet to relieve myself. HA HA. My stomach hurts a lot and I can't even eat my dinner since I a still very full.

SALADSTOP- NOVENA SQUARE

Went home late from school so I had no choice but to just take away something from novena (near home) And I a planning to eat healthy so, I went to salad stop to take away a salad wrap. Had all the proteins, fiber, good fats and carbohydrates in one meal. Healthy and a good grab-and-go meal.

I had the spinach tortilla wraps with mixed vegetable, walnuts, long beans, edamame, mushrooms, onions with cajun prawns topped with wasabi honey soy as my dressings. I like this combination. Fresh and crunchy. I requested the person to toast my wraps a little but longer than usual because I like the wraps to be a but burnt so that it can be crunchy.

However, to my disappointment, the person put too much of the dressings and the ingredients that the wraps become too big and too soggy. So, the dressings spill and the wraps is not as crunchy as I like it to be. But, overall, is still a nice wraps to eat and is one of the healthier alternative rather than Macs or KFC. The total create-your-own wraps cost me around $13.00.

PREGO- FAIRMONT

Prego has always been my favorite place to have an Italian cuisine for a brunch buffet once in a while. It is a place for me to act as a high-class person because of the price. It is $76++ for one person without a champagne buffet. And considering that I am still a student, it is expensive alright. But, I could not overcome my cravings and decided to dine in there for brunch on Sunday. Reached there at 12.30 and there is a lot of people. However, the atmosphere is still very calming and the service of the staffs were satisfactory. However, I was quite disappointed that I was not served the popular complimentary bread that I like.

I love their salad bars the most. I had their self-made salad (mixed vegetables, walnuts, bread crumbles with lemon vinaigrette) I love this combination! I am a bread and nuts addict so this combination is my favorite. The lemon vinaigrette opens up my appetite too. I also had the pasta salad. However, it is my least favorite because the pasta is tasteless and is too hard. But the prawn is nice though. The marinated mushroom is my least favorite too as the mushroom is too oily and buttery for my liking. This is my first time trying the fritata (the egg stuffed with something like capsicum in it) and I like it. I am an egg person so I really like the eggy feeling. The lamb with lentil salad is nice too. Not too strong till it makes me sick

Then I tried their seafood corner. Had the prawn, scallops and the mushroom tart. I love all of them. The prawns were very fresh and succulent. Top with the sweet and spicy sauce, perfect. The scallops too. Fresh and chewy. I like anything with tart so for me, the mushroom tart is perfect. Tart is freshly baked, not too crumbly but not too hard either. Mushroom have a hint of the taste in it, so there is no need to have an additional condiments to top with it.

Their salmon and beef meat equally amazing too. The herbed salmon is the best here. It have the hint taste the herbs and the salmon is smooth and fresh. The smoked salmon tasted original which is nice. This meat (most probably beef) is nice too, judging from a person who does not really like to eat beef. I like the sauce that comes along with it. It has a hint of wasabi sauce in it. nice and opens up your appetite.

The hot dishes are not very appetizing to me. I tried the ball fritters, chicken stew, roasted potato, lamb rib and the cod fish. I like the cod fish the most. It is very tender and smooth. The lamb rib have too much fatty meat in it that I felt sick while eating it. The ball fritters are not crunchy at all. Is a disappointment. I guess they left it on the open for too long. The chicken is nice and tender. However, the taste of the stew is out of proportion. Roasted potato tasted just... potato I guess.

Then, is my favorite part of the buffet. Desserts! Prego has my favorite dessert spreads of all. For the first serving, I had the peach strudel, pecan tart, fruit tart and the chocolate cake. I love all of them!! Chocolate cake has the chocolate taste that is not too overpowering and is soft and fluffy with a crunchy biscuit underneath it. Nice! Tarts... what more I can say... I love tarts! I love the peach strudels too with the vanilla cream. But, I think the strudels are too hard, Tried to use fork and spoon to cut it but failed because it is too hard. But I had a few servings of these all desserts. (I am so going to get fat!)

My second serving. You see, there is another strawberry tart. LOL. I also had that small cone with grapes and some fruit cream. Had three servings of those too. HA HA. The raspberry mousse in the cup is light refreshing. I like it a lot too. The dessert in the bowl (which I do not know the name) is not to my liking. It is soft and soggy and the taste is quite weird for me. The cake is coffee cake, so, I do not like it either.

There are some food that I did not take picture of it too. Because I was too enjoying myself that I forgotten. The waffle is nice too. Especially if it is topped with maple syrup. I like waffle that are a bit burnt as it is crunchy and they managed to do that. IT remains crunchy even after so long. And also the repeated servings of the desserts. I am a big-eater you see. But, I could not eat my dinner after this as I was too full.

Prego got to be one of my favorite buffet restaurant ever and I will come again if I have the money. LOL.

LET'S SWEETS- BUGIS JUNCTION

Had been having a craving for buffet lately. I love buffets because of its wide variety and also me being able to stuff myself until full. So, me and my friend went to let's sweets to try out the desserts there. Went there on Saturday around 1 and there is not much crowd. First, I thought that the time limit was 60 minutes but it turns out to be 80 minutes. Was happy because this means I can eat more:D Total price is $40 for 2 person.

I was a bit disappointed that they did not have the omelet rice and the variety of the savory dishes are only limited to certain types of pizzas (takoyaki, gyoza, salmon mentai, salami, chicken teriyaki, rainbow), pastas (tomato sauce and cream based sauce), crab ball fritters, rice with curry and vegetable soups. The salad bars are not at all appetizing. So, I did not try out the salads.

I love the teriyaki chicken pizza and the salmon mentai pizza. The chicken meat is very tender and smooth and there is not much cheese in it to make it too heavy. For the salmon mentai pizza, the mentai sauce is very fresh and suits perfectly with the salmon. however, I do not like the gyoza pizza. The gyoza in the pizza is too dry and there is too little filling in the gyoza. While eating both, the bread and the gyoza together feels so out of place. The crab ball fritters are very nice! I like it very much and had like 3 servings of it. It is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. the takoyaki is mediocre.Tomato-sauced pasta is nice but is left in the open for too long that it becomes in a room temperature and the taste is affected. But the taste is not too heavy for a buffet.

Since let's sweets is mainly focused on their desserts, I, too, mainly focused on eating their desserts. HA HA. Had all three types of crepes. First is the apple with caramel crepe, then the berry crepe followed by the chocolate banana crepe. Only took the picture of the apple caramel one because I was too busy eating it. I like the berry crepe the most though. Followed by the apple caramel then the banana chocolate ones. The crepe is too soggy and not crispy. However, the vanilla ice-cream saved the day. Th berry crepe is sweet and refreshing while the apple crepe totally warms your heart and stomach. However, the chocolate banana one is too heavy and does not really suits my taste-bud. Moreover, since the crepe is not that hot, it does not have the 'melt-in-your-mouth' sensation. It's a pity as banana chocolate crepe will be the best if is really like that.

Then, I had the banana tart, the daifuku (white one), the matcha cake and the red bean mochi. I love the banana tart the most! Not too sweet but there is a hint of a burnt banana tart which I love coz it totally complement with the sweetness of it. I had like 3 servings of this too. The daifuku is nice too. I think inside is sesame paste. It is cold and when you bite it, it just melts in your mouth. Not sticky at all. However, the matcha cake is too bitter for me. The red bean mochi is tasteless and there is not much thing I can describe for it.

For my 2nd round of desserts, I have the mango mousse, shortcake, the mango jelly in a cup and the strawberry parfait. The strawberry parfait is delicious. Light to the taste and refreshing. I like the shortcake inside it which blends well with the jelly. The strawberry used is really fresh. The mango mousse does not taste mango at all and it is easily forgettable. The shortcake have a hint of coffee in it, and it is my mistake to take it. Coffee and sweets just does not match for me. But, for coffee lover, you can try this. It really has a strong hint of coffee in it. The mango jelly or pudding is really nice. I like it. There is the taste of fresh mango in it and is not too watery. I like it.

If you think that this is all I ate, you are terribly wrong. I ate more than what I posted. Like I mentioned, some of the desserts here, I took like a 2nd and 3rd servings. Like the crepes, the tarts and the daifuku. I also tried the blue jelly (which I don't really like, too bland and the jelly is not easy to chew kind), some other pizzas, the curry rice (too diluted) and also other kinds of desserts. but I was too busy eating that I do not remember to take picture of it (I know I failed as a food blogger).

Let's Sweets is a good place for people who would like to eat desserts at an affordable price. The quality and variety is limited but considering the price, I think it is quite reasonable and is good to try it out. I shall try out their other branches as well next time

TCC- NOVENA VELOCITY

Went to TCC for dinner today. I was about to go to La Petite Cuisine but decide not to because I want to eat in a quiet environment today.

Had the pan-fried salmon with Mexican hot jalapeno chili grounded into sauce with onion roasted potato, lotus and long broccoli ($22.90). It is nice. I had the salmon medium-rare. I like the sauce as it added the flavor of the salmon. The texture of the salmon is nice too. Chewy but not hard. Fresh and does not have the tangy fishy smell. I like the vegetable. It is crispy and fresh. But I would love the roasted potato to be more crunchy and not too mushy and the lotus to be more refreshing. The lotus have the weird herbal taste in it that does not attract me much. But overall, it is a nice dish. I like the plating of the dish.

I AM TOTALLY IN LOVE WITH THE DESSERT. It is chestnut cake with chestnut parfait, accompanied with a medley of berries (raspberry, blueberry and strawberry) I love the parfait. The wafer is crunchy with the right amount of thickness. The parfait is creamy but not too thick to make me feel sick for being too strong. eat it together, perfect combination! The cake is soft and moist. But, is not my favorite though... I like my cake to be more to the harder and crispy side (that's why I love tarts and pies...) But I still love the dessert. Did not regret it. It is a new dessert and I love it already! Hope it will stay permanent in the menu

Overall, TCC is a perfect place if you just want to dine in peaceful and causally. The food there is affordable ad reasonable and is said to be more of the healthier version of restaurant than others like Swensens and chili. I strongly recommend TCC in novena. The staffs are nice and respectful too.

Suki Sushi- SHAW PLAZA

This is my first time creating a food blog. he he inspired by many other food blogger. And the first post belong to SUKI SUSHI!! Ate the dinner buffet at suki sushi shaw plaza just yesterday. Cost me around $26.00++?? Is quite reasonable for me and I felt so full afterward. It is an international buffet. It serves sashimi, assorted sushi, seafood, fried items, dim sums, hot sections, desserts, grilled items, paper steamboat, hotplate and local delights such as laksa.

starting from the bottom right hand corner clockwise, is the Thai salad, then the lobster with potato salad, the spaghetti salad and the crab-stick and asparagus salad. I love the Thai salad the most. It is very refreshing and the prawns and the squids are very fresh. It have the hint of the Thai's spice in it that I love very much. The lobster with potato salad is not that great. It is too dry and I can't taste the lobster. The potato are very rough in texture and makes it very hard to swallow. the spaghetti salad has a very weird taste in it. I think is because of the sauce they use. And the spaghetti is too soggy, I guess because it have been left in the open for quite a long time. However, the worst one is definitely the crab-stick and asparagus salad. the dressings used has a a very strong and overpowering taste of milk. is not mayo but milk!! I felt so nauseous after eating it.

then I tried the sashimi. Fist is the salmon and maguro. I love it!! It is so fresh and they cut it thickly. The squid is my favorite. Chewy, light and refreshing. good for a starter option. However, the sword-tail sashimi is not as fresh as the other sashimi and is quite a disappointment to me.

Next, I had the cold tofu. I forgotten to take the sauce for the cold tofu and eat it just like that. but surprisingly, it is good even without the sauce. The tofu is hard and firm and with the bonito flakes, it gives the tofu a bit of the salty taste. Opens up your appetite for the next round.

Then is the udon. The udon is the worst dish of the night. Even with the sauce, the udon still taste bad. no taste at all. And the udon is not springy at all. it may be because it is left on the counter for too long. I only manage to eat a mouthful of it and throw away the rest.

Then, after that, I had their chili foods. HA-HA everything is red. Starting from the kimchi rice clockwise, I also had the sambal fish, sambal squid and spicy rice cake. The kimchi fried rice and the sambal fish was so-so. Nothing to talk about. Is not bad but is not great either. the sambal squid, however, is nice!! I guess the chefs here did well in the squids. I practically like all of their squid dishes. ha-ha. the spice is just right and the squid is very nice to chew. However, the spicy rice cake on the other hand, is not that good. It is too oily as you can see a layer of oil when you scoop it up. And it is not as chewy as the one I had in Korea. Quite a big disappointment.

Then I had their fried stuffs. The tako ball is the worst dish in that plate. No hint of tako at all. and the fillings are disgusting, so mushy and wet. And sadly, they did not even provide us with the tako sauce and condiments. The breaded tempura prawn and fried battered prawn is nice!! I like it, The prawn is delicious and crunchy but not oily. Love it. but the best and highlight on the plate is the prawn crepe salad. it is chewy and crunchy and even without and condiments, I can feel a hint of egg put into it and the taste of the prawn. I love it so much that I ate a second serving of that.

Then I went to their dim sums and hot sections. It is pathetic and the food does not look appetizing at all. So, I only grab a few. I do not like the otah as it is tasteless and is fry. But, I like the teriyaki chicken, the kue pue teeh (something like that) and the durian steamed bun. The chicken is tender and not oily. The teriyaki sauce is just right too, not too sweet like other Japanese restaurant. The kue pue teeh is very nice. I do not like popiah but I love this. It is crunchy and the chili add another dimension to the food. And of course, durian steamed bun! I like it! the bun is soft and there is enough durian inside it for me to taste it.

After that is time for dessert! (first picture) Durian puff is nice and and durian penyet too. One of my favorite durian penyet here. But the mochi mousse and strawberry parfait is just disgusting, Taste weird and the texture too. (2nd picture) Then I had the chocolate tart, the durian crepe. pulut hitam cake, chocolate truffle and the green tea durian cake. The chocolate tart is nice but the more I eat it, the more sick I got, too much chocolate! Chocolate truffle and green tea durian is nice too. Light and does not make you feel sick. But the pulut hitam cake is tasteless and grainy. And the durian crepe is so soggy that I can't even taste the durian. Great disappointment

Overall, there is a few hit and misses in the buffet. But for the price, I think it is really worth it to try out. Especially with the prawn crepe. Thai salad and the sashimi there. I did not try their beef as I do not eat beef. Too bad, but think it will be nice since I saw many people ordering it.
