Angus House - TAKASHIMAYA

After Cedele, we went to Angus house for dinner. I always love the place. Nice atmosphere and food. Ordered the dinner set which comes with appetizer, salads, soup, complimentary bread, main dish, dessert and tea or coffee. I did not take the picture for my salad coz my mother ate them and the dessert, well I ate it before I remembered to take. haha fail. But the dessert is tiramisu anyway. Angus House has always been the place for my most favorite tiramisu cake The taste is not too heavy and does not have a strong taste of the coffee. I like it a lot.

My dad love the complimentary bread a lot! He said that the bread is crispy and warm. Fresh from the oven. Eat it with butter, a journey to heaven

The appetizer is pan-fried cod fish on a bed of mash potato with avocado puree. It is light and refreshing, good for appetizer. The cod fish is pan-fried nicely with the outside crispy and the inside moist and soft. No fishy smell at all. The avocado puree is nice and light. Mash potato is also very natural with no addition of
butter.

The soup is very creamy and heavy with a very strong taste of milk. I do not like milk so I gave this to my dad who likes it a lot. And dipping the bread into the soup, is another 'wow' experience according to him.

My main, I chose mixed seafood grill. I like it! The king prawn is nicely grilled, succulent But, a pity that it is too thin. However, I like the fact that the meat is easily de-shelled. the scallop is nicely seared, well at least one of them. The second one, I think it is a bit raw, is not cooked enough yet. Cooking a scallop perfectly is hard I know, so, I do not really mind. The grilled squid is the best in my opinion. It is sliced easily and not too springy. I like it!

Angus House will always been one my favorite restaurant to eat with y family members. Not only because of the food but also the overall atmosphere. Relaxing and calming. Good for chi-chatting and spending some time together.

Cedele - TAKASHIMAYA

Went to Cedele for a high tea. I have always wanted to try the desserts when I bought my sandwich there everytime and today, I finally have it! I tried 3 desserts. The apple crumble flan, chocolate eclair and the strawberry tart. I did not try the carrot cake though, because the slice is so big!

Did not try the chocolate eclair (middle) coz it is gone before I tried it. My mother says it is very nice. And this comes from a person who have tried chocolate eclair from different cafes and bakeries. So, this chocolate eclair will sure to be good.

I love the apple crumble flan. There is slices of caramelized apple in it and the crumble is sweet but not too overly sweet. I love it!

The strawberry tart (middle) is the most anticipated one for me, but sadly, it is the most disappointed one too. The first taste is alright. But, the second bite, the tart is too thick and the chocolate custard is too bitter. Not suitable with the strawberry. Quite disappointed with it.

However, I still think Cedele is one of my favorite place to get my sandwich. Their food are wholesome and healthy and of course delicious. Just don't get their tarts next time.

Pasta De Waraku - NOVENA SQUARE 2

I know what you were gonna say. How am I supposed to lose weight if I continue to eat like this. Well, I have no idea but somehow?? haha. So, went to Pasta De Waraku for dinner but I was not really hungry so I ordered a green tea parfait. I was trying to decide between the parfait or the hanito dessert. But, I chose the parfait instead because I was trying to cut down on carbohydrates. HAHA! But, I do realize that both are equally sinful though...

I almost give up waiting for the parfait since the staff did not send me my parfait after 20 minutes of waiting and the choco-banana parfait of the guest after me has come out so I though mine was forgotten. I was so impatient that I told her I did not want it anymore. However, I guess she was just part-timer and was quite shocked, so she apologized to me like repetitively and brought out my parfait.

It was bigger than I thought it will be. I changed the cream into vanilla ice-cream since I don't like cream. The parfait consist of vanilla ice-cream, green-tea ice-cream, mochi ball, red bean and some cereal crunch. It is nice, I like it. Well, I do love desserts right?? haha! I was glad that I changed the cream to ice-cream.

Waraku is a nice place to dine in, just need to improve the service more. My drink was not served until 20 minutes later and my brother's food was not served until 40 minutes later and my parfait was not served for another 10 more minutes....

Canele Patiesser - PARAGON

First day of trying to stay away from buffet and I succeeded! I went to Canele for lunch and just to stay there and study. LOL yea, I know weird right? But I went there to study for my Korean test in the evening and to wait for my brother to come and shop with me. I was seated at a nice place and the sofa, was oh-so-nice even though it is a bit too short.

I ordered a savory pancake of mushroom seared with whine wine and topped with rocket salad. Even though in the menu it only said mushroom, when I cut open the pancake, I saw ham.... hmmm.... I wonder why. But, I love this dish! I lie that the pancake is soft and fluffy but not too thick and soggy. The side is crispy and thin just the way I like it. The mushroom is seared nicely and I love the hint taste of the white wine. Overall, a nice dish

I have a craving for sweet chocolate-y dish, a drawback from all the buffets you see... So, I ordered a slice of flour-less chocolate cake. Oh, it was so good. It is so rich in chocolate and I love it, as a chocolate lover.

I would love to come and dine in here again. But next time, I will order an additional of macaroons. Believe it or not, but I have not tried macaroon before. yeap, shock shock. Anyway, I was glad that the staffs did not chase me out after eating to study even though the place start to get crowded. :D:D

Asian Straits Market - Swissotel

I admit I am a buffet fanatic. I love buffets because I have a lot of varieties I can choose and taste. And I especially love it when I can choose and taste many kinds of desserts. However, this will be my last post for buffets because I must stop eating this! This way of dining has burnt my pocket and also affected my weight. I shall stop eating so much. HAHA! At least I will try not to eat buffets for a while.

Have been wanting to try Asian Straits Market for a while, but always failed because it is always fully reserved. But I got to try it at last just recently. I just have to say, the food is great and the service is really GOOD! I was first introduced to all the dishes by one of the waiters, brought to the table and was quickly served with drinks and was greeted with a smile. So hard to find such an impeccable service nowadays. They also cleared our plates almost instantly. Nice one.

So here are the dishes, not all was taken since I was busy eating. haha. I love their desserts especially. Even though it has only a few variety, the desserts were all up-to-standard, I love the portuegese tart and fruit tart especially. I also like their scallop and the salads and also the cereal prawn. I was so happy that they helped us de-shelled the prawn. I was too lazy to de-shelled it usually. The not-so-good one is the yu sheng and soba noodle sadly.

This, will be my last buffet post for the time-being. Perseverance!!

Yoguru - GREAT WORLD CITY

After Ichiban Boshi, I was still craving for something sweet. So, I head to Yoguru for my usual yogurt dine in. LOL. Yoguru was once my favorite Singapore's yogurt outlet before Sour Sally came into Singapore's business and knowing about Swirl Art and Yigloo. However, I still like Yoguru though. The frozen yogurt here is more tart and does not melt easily. Love it.

So, I had the natural flavor with 1 topping of honey coated nuts. I like it! But, for the granola, I do prefer those in Sogurt or Sour Sally. But the yogurt beats Sogurt anytime:D Yoguru is still one of my favorite Yogurt outlet though:D However, in Yoguru, never try the flavored frozen yogurt as it lacks the punch and flavor.

Ichiban Boshi - GREAT WORLD CITY

Went to Ichiban boshi at great world city for dinner. I was not really into eating sumptuous food so, went there just to fill myself up and relax. I was craving for rolls anyway, since the time I went to Hachi Hachi and Kiyadon in Indonesia. I was hoping to find the same excitement I had in Ichiban, but sadly, it failed to meet my expectation.

First, I had the sushi roll fried in tempura batter and topped with lobster (mocked one I think) mayo. I like it that it is somewhat crispy. But, it is just plain normal, nothing extraordinary about it.

I ordered the deep fried salmon skin, thinking that it will be light and crunchy dish. However, the taste is a bit bitter and not enough crunch. I think it is too thick sadly. The little mayo that was put on top does not even help to cover up the bitterness.

I also ordered the salmon carpaccio. The sashimi was fresh, but the teriyaki sauce is so mild that the dish is tasteless.

The last one is the deep fried ebi tempura roll topped with sakura ebi. It is nice and light. This is the better dish out of all. I like the ebi tempura as you can taste that it is nicely battered and fried and the rice is nicely rolled too. The sakura ebi also make the roll to have an interesting and unique taste of it.

Overall, Ichiban sushi is a good place to dine if you just want to fill yourself and avoid any frills. However, if you expect any spectacular food, this is not the place to be at. However, I do have to admit that it is much better than Sakae sushi and Sakura though... no offense.

Honeymoon Dessert - TAMAN ANGGREK

I always wanted to try Hong Kong dessert and I got to try it in Indo. hehe, I can't control my craving real well you see... It is located at the top level of the mall and it is quiet and peaceful. I like the ambiance. We were seated beside a big window where we can see the scenery. Nice.

We order the mango with black glutinous rice in vanilla sauce, served cold. I like this dish. Mango and black glutinous rice, how can it gone wrong. However, I do wish that the sauce will be more thicker and sweeter.

We also order char-char(?) served warm. It contains corn, red beans, tapioca and many more. It is one of their bestseller and favorite. however, I do not like it as much as the mango ones. The coconut gravy is too much for me and I do not really like corn you see.

Overall, I really enjoy this place. Not because of the dessert but because of the ambiance. These desserts... well as I expected... Hong Kong does it best.

Fruit Paradise - ORCHARD CENTRAL

I have been wanting to try the tart here for very long and today! At last I got to try it. I was contemplating between this and heaven's loft and come to mind to have desserts here.I had the tart set of 1 slice of tart and a jug of tea for 11.55 including all.

I had the strawberry & mango fruit tart in custard base. I am happy that there is not much cream in it since I do not really like cream. It is light and fresh. The tart base is crumbly and easy to break. Like it! The custard is not too heavy as well.

Overall, it is a nice and delicious tart. However, I do think it is a bit overpriced for the portion of that just 1 tart though.

Kiseki - HEEREN

Back from CNY and I am still obsessed with Japanese food. So, went to Kiseki to try out. Heard many good reviews about it. The restaurant is pay first and they will chop an invisible stamp on your hand. The place is big and spacious. I like it.

The salad is fresh and nice. However, I mistook the olive oil with cheese dressing as wafu dressing. They had put up wrong names for the dressings. Fatal mistake coz my salad bacomes oily. but is ok. I like that they have crunc topping and peanut for my salad. I love crunchy things.

The sashimi is nice too. I especially love the marinated salmon. Refreshing and taste tingy. Sashimi are fresh.

The sushi is nice too! Love it. The inari sushi is nice. The spicy roll is nice too, they used the japanese chili powder. At first, the chilli is too strong but as you chew it, it just taste nicer and nicer. Had second serving for both. I was lucky to have tried the seared tuna sushi too as it is out of stock after that. Is mediocre though.

The deep fried items are nice too! I love the lotus especially and I am happy that the sauce is warm. And the fried items do not lose their crunch.

Yaki udon also passed my expectation. Is not the best but is nice. However, passable.

There is only a limited dessert here. However I love the red bean roll and the peanut roll. Is really nice. The mango mousse is so-so. same with the brownie.

They also have wafer and ice cream. Did not take picture of that though. There is also a chocolate fondue without a chocolate fountain. However, the marshmallow is pathetically small that I only have a serving of this. Overall, I think Kiseki is really a very good place to eat cheap Japanese buffet. It is better than Sakura too:D

Hachi Hachi Bistro - TAMAN ANGGREK

This restaurant was strongly recommended by my brother's girlfriend. So, I went to dine there with my cousin. The restaurant specializes in sushi rolls. It have so many different kinds of rolls that it left me so confused trying to choose. In the end, we decided to order 3. And, to our surprise, it was BIG!

My cousin had a big cup of hot ocha. And when they mean big, is really big. compare to the typical bottle of shoyu, it is bigger. Imagine that.

Had the salmon cream pie. As mentioned, this restaurant specializes in rolls so, the cream pie is not to my liking. There is a strong milk taste in it. And the thin pie crust turns so soggy after so long that it becomes disgusting for me to eat it. There is only a small chunk of salmon in it too. however, my cousin like the soup since it is creamy and milky just like how she likes it.

Had the crunchy roll. And yes, it is crunchy. It is deep fried ebi tempura wrapped in rice with avocado topping and the crusts. I like this a lot. Crunchy and refreshing.

Had the dragon roll too. My cousin like this and I think it is better than the ones I had in Singapore too.

But my favorite got to be this spicy salmon skin roll. Crunchy and spicy. Perfect combination. I love it!

Notice how big the 3 rolls are?? Yes! It is that big!

Overall, I think this restaurant is right to be highly recommended because it is really good! The price is actually half of the kiyadon sushi. LOL. Both sushi restaurant is nice and I will come here again next time when I came back and order other sushi rolls to try out.

Sour Sally - EMPORIUM & TAMAN ANGGREK

Did I mention that Sour Sally originated from Indonesia? Yes, that's right. I knew Sour Sally before it opened in Singapore and it has always been my favorite brand here. So, in 2 different days, I had these. Sadly though, in Indonesia, they no longer serve green tea and they changed it to taro (yam). Since I do not like yam, I chose strawberry instead It is sweet and light. Nice but I prefer green tea though.

In Emporium, I had the toppings of almond and strawberry. They do not have granola sadly. But almond is fine too. Their almond is not like in Singapore where it is chopped so finely that it lost the crispiness of it. Here, it crunchy and nice. Strawberry is fresh and sweet too. Perfect!

In Taman Anggrek, I had toppings of chocolate seeds and almond. I like it. Sweet of the strawberry yogurt, bitter of the chocolate seeds and the crunch of almond. Perfect combination number 2.

From here, you should have known by now that Sour Sally is my daily intake of dessert everyday in Indonesia. I almost had it everyday there since it is available at most of the mall. Yes, Sour Sally is very popular in Indonesia and I hope it can be too in Singapore. There is facebook page for Sour Sally too:D Search for it and follow the page. Is cute:D

Kiyadon Sushi - EMPORIUM (JAKARTA)

Went to Jakarta for CNY celebration (Yes, I am Indonesian:D) Since I had nothing to do in the mall, me and my brother went to Kiyadon Sushi for lunch. It looks so nice, the place is so peaceful and I love the setting. White and neat. Inside, it is surrounded by sakura tree and you can choose to sit beside the bar or on the table inside the shelter (LOL, shelter inside shelter).

The first thing I noticed is the conveyor belt. Instead of those conveyors that is frequently used in sushi tei, sakae sushi and other sushi joints, they use boat and water to transport the food. So the sushis are put on the boat and it floats on water following the direction of the route. It is so cool!!

I took the salmon skin roll from the conveyor belt. I like it. The rice is firm and the salmon skin is crunchy. Love it.

Then, My brother ordered the spicy salmon sashimi roll. It is tasty. Better than the ones in Singapore but after trying other dishes in the restaurant, this just taste normal.

Ordered the new style sashimi salad. OMG! Best sashimi salad ever! I like that they sprinkle a lot of the deep fried shredded crab stick onto the salad. I love it. The sashimi is fresh too! And the greens are crunchy and refreshing. There is seared tuna there that is so nice! The prawns there is fresh too with octopus. NICE!!

The chef also made me a dish that is out of the menu. He suddenly asked me what I like in a roll. I said: crunchy, spicy and smoked. And out of a sudden, he made a roll for me! He smoked the salmon sashimi, put spicy sauce in it and made a roll. Then he sprinkle the deep fried shredded crab-stick on it (my favorite! And he put A LOT!) The taste? AWESOME! I Love it!! BEST EVER!

The service by the chef is superb. He talked to you and treat you very politely. Staffs too. However, at the end, there is a slight confusion in my bill since they lost it and misplaced my change. Had to wait around 30 minutes for it. However, the staffs apologized sincerely, so I was not angry. I enjoyed my experience here and I think this restaurant is so much better than many Singapore sushi restaurants. I hope I can find one like this in Singapore. Of course, the price is not cheap, but for that price, I think I am willing to fork it out happily.

Ootaya - ORCHARD CENTRAL

I have always love Ootaya char-grilled chicken as it is smooth, tender and nicely-grilled. So one day, I went to Ootaya to eat dinner again and ordered the char-grilled chicken dressed in orange sauce with the rice set.

I like the assorted vegetable. It is light & refreshing. The rice for Ootaya is better than other japanese rice I tried. Stick and fragrant and is easy to chew. I like it very much. The chicken as always, tender and smooth. I like it. And the dish is of a healthy ones where they serve it with a bed of vegetables. Good for people who wants to eat healthy once in a while. (LOL like me, after having so much buffets...)

Crystal Jade - TAKASHIMAYA

Went to Crystal Jade for lunch with my mum. I was not craving for any rice or noodle so we went to have dim sum instead. However, mum had the craving for Japanese food so went to order the yakiudon.

The stir-fry black-pepper yakiudon taste very bad for me. i knew it that it was wrong to order fusion Japanese dish in a Chinese restaurant. Regret it. The sauce is watery and I can't taste the black-pepper. Even though the noodle is fry nicely, the watery sauce totally killed it.

The cha siew pau is just normal. I have eaten better ones. But I do like the fact that there is not much of pork fats in the bun.

The dough fritter wrapped in skin roll is nice! I like that the dough fritter is crispy and the rice skin is not too thick. But I think that the sauce should be more hot to make it nicer. Mum's favorite dish.

The egg tart is buttery and crumbly. I like it and almost finish all 3 of them but stopped at 2 after thinking of the butter content in it. The cha siew sou is my favorite dim sum food but I was disappointed as it did not meet y expectation. But it is still nice, just not superb. Have high expectation of it.

Crystal Jade is a nice casual-dining restaurant. It is not too expensive and affordable for all. However, the quality of the dim sum is not at its best. Just normal but worth eating when you have a sudden craving of dim sum and crystal jade is the only place you got.
